I take podcast teaching seriously, but not myself.

Nate Davis, podcast coach

Some people were born to be teachers — but I never considered myself one of those people . . . even though both my parents were. Honestly, I spent most of my adult life running from teaching, but then all it took was a global pandemic and losing my job to bring me around to my true vocation.

In this 16-minute autobiographical piece, I cover my creative background, how we started Shelter in Place and Narrative Podcasts, and some of the ways we approach our training and coaching.

Narrative podcasting tips

I share distilled elements from our course and workshops (and my experience judging three podcast award shows) in this YouTube playlist. I try to keep it short, work from notes, and cover topics from creative habits and process to key skills like scriptwriting, editing, and sound design.

Heard enough? If this sounds like a fit, we’d love to have you in our course. Or if you want to see the whole curriculum (16 lessons, 21 speakers, 44 audio tutorials and exclusive reflections, and 99 exercises, diagrams, and templates, see this page.
